In with the New and Out with the Old.

January is a great time to reflect on how you are going to move forward in the new and coming year. It’s also a time to tighten your belt and be canny with your pennies and I ‘m just wondering if this is why people decide to support dry January, let’s face it, it’s a very expensive indulgence and full of calories!

Who has the money to go out for a meal, catch up with your friends at local the pub or even the cinema these days when you have just spent all your money on Christmas and New Year celebrations?

Throughout November and December, most of us are stressing about what to buy for our loved ones for Christmas and looking at our purse strings to see if we can afford it all.  Personally, I love the build-up to it all, counting down the sleeps, singing along to the Christmas songs on the radio, putting up the tree, turning on the fairy lights. Cosy nights in with family and great Christmas party nights out and the family coming over for Christmas dinner.

I know this happens every year but once New Year has passed, everything is tidied away and the house is shockingly bare and reality sets in that we have 3 months until the next annual holiday and the joy of longer days and sunnier times.

January is the one month we could all do with a bit of money to go out and enjoy ourselves. It’s cold, it’s dark and we have nothing to look forward to.

Did you know about Blue Monday? It’s a Monday in January (typically the third Monday of the month) reported to be the most depressing day of the year. That’s how bad January is – it has the most depressing day of the year in it!

So, let’s start the year in a positive way and look at all the exciting things the New Year and life has to offer us all. Let’s be thankful for our friends and family and all the small pleasures we have.

Take a look at our 2020 Winter Blues Busters.
